POSITIVE POST – Min Hee Jin (ADOR CEO)
People often say that Kpopalypse is a mean, nasty place full of negativity and constant criticism, but regular readers know that this is nothing further from the truth and Kpopalypse always has a big-time POSITIVE outlook on life! Let’s now reaffirm the POSITIVE nature of this website by looking at all the POSITIVE things about ADOR’s CEO, Min Hee Jin! Please enjoy this POSITIVE post!
REASON WHY I FEEL POSITIVE ABOUT MIN HEE JIN AND YOU SHOULD TOO #1
MIN HEE JIN JUST STOPPED PEOPLE FROM CARING ABOUT THE NOWHERE SUBJECT OF K-POP VOCALS FOR AT LEAST FIVE MINUTES
It may have escaped the attention of actual music fans, but those deeper down the k-pop rabbit hole may have noticed that Le Sserafim performed at Coachella recently.
It wasn’t a bad performance overall, with Le Sserafim throwing musical accuracy to the wind somewhat in the name of giving a more energetic, fun performance to the crowd, which is exactly what pretty much every artist does ever when they play live. Of course that didn’t stop people picking it apart anyway, scanning carefully for and highlighting the most inaccurately-pitched parts of the performance to loop out of context on their social media of choice, as if k-pop is opera and people are even here for the vocals anyway. You’d think people would just be grateful that the Autotune was off for once, but I guess not. Anyway, all of this boring discourse was quickly swept aside as soon as ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin started drawing swords with parent company HYBE’s CEO Bang Si Hyuk over something or other that I’m not completely following because I’m poor so I don’t care what rich people do with their own time if they’re not giving me their money (Ko-fi here for all you k-pop CEOs if you’re reading, I need a few thousand dollars to pay for a new hot water system because my old one just blew up plus they just found asbestos in the roof today that I need to pay to remove and also the government just increased student debt again so I’ll be in debt for life, help a poor caonima not be homeless tysm rich CEO cunts cheers). But good work Min Hee Jin for at least getting k-pop’s legions of vocal-obsessed idiots to think about something else for at least five minutes!

MIN HEE JIN’S STRUGGLES WITH EVERYBODY COPYING HER ARE VERY RELATABLE
Min Hee Jin is concerned that people are copying her style a lot. In just this past week, she has apparently mentioned:
- ILLIT being a cheap copy of NewJeans’ pedo-friendly swag
- RIIZE and TWS also being a copy of NewJeans somehow
- BTS being a copy of her ideas, although I’m not sure what ideas exactly, I guess her ideas about having a group as big as BTS
- R.Kelly and JYP for being a copy of her locking kids in captivity
Min Hee Jin, I feel your anguish. Kpopalypse.com is also the victim of relentless copying by others.
- Asian Junkie copying my roundup with his “rundowns”, and not crediting Kpopalypse appropriately for the “Way’s Girls” concept, not to mention copying my sport posts for his day job
- Every nugu focused website and social media account for not giving credit to Kpopalypse Nugu Alert, the original nugu series still running after a decade unlike your faves
- Jessica Jung for stealing my idea of writing “fictional” k-pop books (since Jessica is, as any fan would say, ahead of her time, this means she wrote her books in the future not the past, therefore she’s copying me)
- Min Hee Jin copying my objectification of k-pop stars by going a step further and actually objectifying them instead of just writing about other people objectifying them
It’s hard times out here being innovative and original. Someone more innovative than me wrote that and I copy-pasted it here, so it must be true.

MIN HEE JIN IS ACTUALLY QUITE ATTRACTIVE
Don’t pretend you haven’t noticed. This is the most popular stock photo of Min Hee Jin going around all the news sites at the moment, and it’s little wonder.
You have all at least silently acknowledged to yourself that Min Hee Jin is serving far more looks than the secretly disgruntled k-pop stars who have to follow her orders or else. Ironically for all the pedobait she puts out, it’s her own pictures of herself that are going to get k-pop fans appreciating grown women again.
Oh and because this pictorial is so terrible because it objectifies a woman, let’s bring in some gender balance courtesy of Min Hee Jin’s very own camera:
Ahh, that’s better. A cleansing for the eyes.

MIN HEE JIN IS REALLY VERY GOOD AT WHAT SHE DOES, WHETHER YOU WANT TO ADMIT IT OR NOT
All the things you loved about f(x), like those pervy but not really it’s art we promise “art films“, the Pink Tape album that was shaped like a VCR and the fact that they always got shortchanged on all the typical idol stuff but got to go in a slightly different direction instead… that was all her doing. If she wasn’t in the mix adding her input, f(x) would have just been given the Baby Monster treatment, consumed by the shadow cast from the previous group on their label (I mean, like, even more than they already were).
NewJeans are also certainly different to other k-pop groups too, and I don’t mean different in the pedo-pandering way, that’s not very different at all actually, people have been doing that shit in k-pop for decades. No, I’m talking about how they look different, sound different, and are conceptually different. I guess not any more now that everyone’s copying them (see reason #2 above) but they were definitely something new and fresh in k-pop for at least a week after “Ditto” dropped before all the clones scooped up on the Pinkpantheress-lite trend she created.
Min Hee Jin’s strategy of hiring songwriters who had no interest in k-pop to take her group in new directions definitely paid off, even if the results weren’t always musically great (and sometimes even a bit shit) they at least stuck out. In the meantime ILLIT honestly just sounds like any other group right now, I listened to that fucking “Magnetic” song about 200 times the other day while I was evaluating all those endless Chinese ILLIT pedo-pandering assessment videos and I still can’t even remember what it sounds like. At least NewJeans’ complete bullshit for fuckheads songs like “Hype Boy” are annoying in that “oh god when will this fucking shit stop” way, not in that “I forgot the song was even playing at all and went to do my laundry” way. And let’s not pretend the visual style isn’t influential too, with everyone stapling plushies and handkerchief fabric to themselves and dancing in poorly-lit corridors and gas stations. None of this happened before Min Hee Jin decided that paying for clothes and sets was passé.

MIN HEE JIN IS THE TRUE QUEEN OF YAPPINGTON
All those kids on TikTok who are still struggling with understanding Peppa Pig episodes and can’t handle even the little snippets from Kpopalypse.com that get up there, they need to understand that I’m small fry in the yapping stakes. I’ll never beat the one true graduate of Yappington High, Min Hee Jin. Her infamously flimsy statement in 2022 denying that there was anything creepy or inappropriate about NewJeans’ image has more words in it than this entire stupid post. Recently she threw out another 735 words about the ILLIT thing, and I have a feeling that she’s just getting warmed up. I suspect there’ll be plenty more back-and-forths on that shit soon, as Min Hee Jin judging by employee reports seems like the kind of person who wouldn’t be happy until she gets the last word in on an argument. Also check out this mega long two-part interview with some magazine where she answers every question with an essay even more tangenital than a Kpopalypse worst list review. Anyway thanks Min Hee Jin from the bottom of my heart for giving the kids today something to fucking read so they can increase their media literacy, god knows they need it. If they can get their head around deconstructing the incredible amounts of self-justifying art-wank that Min Hee Jin writes, their chances of also understanding the true intentions behind “I’m addict – Kpopalypse’s big boobs in k-pop guide number 9” when it comes out are getting a lot better.

SHE PROBABLY CAUSED GFRIEND TO BREAK UP (WAIT, HEAR ME OUT…)
Gfriend would probably still be around if it wasn’t for Min Hee Jin. “But aren’t you the biggest Gfriend stan outside of Chris P from Korean Indie?” I hear you ask. Well, yes, but the Gfriend breakup paved the way for Viviz’ sexy concepts. Think of all the Eunha fancams that we wouldn’t be getting.
There’s a witty closing statement I had prepared to put right here but I forgot what it was, oh well. Let’s watch Eunha some more.
Yes.
That’s all for this post! Don’t forget to think POSITIVE thoughts, and Kpopalypse will return!
