Christine Dacera’s body got embalmed Prior to aut0psy without family consent

The body of Christine Dacera was embaImed before it was examined for medico-legal purposes.

It is confirmed by Metro Manila police chief Vicente Danao, Jr.

Sinabi po niya ‘yun na na-embaIm bago po na-aut0psy,” Danao told referring to forensic examiner Police Major Michael Nick Sarmiento.

Danao questioned the move. However, he admitted that revised rules of the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) due to the C0’VID-19 pandemic allowed such arrangements.

Police Major Michael Sarmiento admitted that he had the Dacera’s remains embaImed even without the consent of her family.

It was also done before an autopsy.

“So mali ‘yung procedure. Ewan ko kung nagkamali lang o alam niyang mali pero ginawa pa rin,” said Atty. Roger Reyes, the legal counsel of the Dacera family.

Reyes said the Dacera family already filed an administrative complaint against Sarmiento to the Philippine National Police earlier.

Meanwhile, Sarmiento has yet to comment on the matter.

An administrative complaint has been filed against Sarmiento by the family, who want him removed from his post.

Dacera’s family cried foul regarding the first aut0psy report provided by the Philippine National Police, which cited ruptured aortic aneurysm or natural causes for the 23-year-old’s d3ath on New Year’s Day.

Her mother, Sharon Dacera, said the autopsy report did not factor in the brui’ses, lace’rations, and supposed sem’en found in her body, which was the basis of the initial r4pe and h0mi’cide complaint the family filed against 11 respondents.

The Dacera family also requested a second aut0psy, but expert forensic pathologist Dr. Raquel Fortun warned Thursday that it may be too late to retrieve swab samples from Christine’s body.

It has been a week since the flight attendant was found d3ad in a hotel room in Makati City.
